BASIC RULES 1.) Drama IC? Hurray! Drama OOC? No, thank you. We want an open and friendly atmosphere here, which means no harassing, no abuse, no blatant rudeness for no apparent reason and keeping IC and OOC things separate at all times. Seriously. 2.) No godmodding whatsoever. 3.) Banned PBs are not negotiable, for the most part. 4.) Likewise, the dynamics of the family trees are not eligible to change for now. 5.) Maturity. We want it. The themes of Societate will expectedly take dark and gruesome turns from time to time, depending on plots and such, and so it is crucial that everyone is on the same boat in dealing with things realistically and sensibly. 6.) Relating to that: nothing will be done "for the hell of it" and violence will not be treated lightly or "Hollywood"-ized. It is a necessary (and sometimes enjoyable) part of particular characters' lives in their continued loyalty to the pureblood cause, but that doesn't mean we want to make this a playground for "Action Film 2" scenarios. Please be realistic. Easy on the crack. 7.) Of course typos happen to the best of us, but try to make them as few as you can however. Please be mindful of your spelling and punctuation. Make sure your paragraphs are separated by a full, empty line and use the spell-check if you're unsure about something. It's no fun writing against a person who doesn't make sense. 8.) Actions have consequences. If your character wants to insult someone who is of more significant public standing than they are, you -- the player -- has to be prepared for the potential backlash (all IC, of course -- we love and encourage conflict OOCly), even though it may not leave your character with the last laugh. Keep this in mind if you choose to take your character down the "devil-may-care" route. No amount of OOC complaining after the fact will save your character from the repercussions of his or her IC decisions. 9.) Characters made for no other purpose than shipping will be sent away, politely or not so politely. We're not interested in anyone whose sole intention of playing is to find a significant other for their character. 10.) Play what you have applied for. No stark deviations from your application, please. 11.) Accents are spoken not written! 12.) When in doubt, ask the mods! |
JOURNAL RULES 1.) The IC story on the community journal system is that charmed books have existed for centuries, enabling wizarding couples, families and companies to maintain contact over great distances -- however, as the charms used to 'create' even two matching journals linked to one another were deemed awfully complicated and made each journal ridiculously expensive, the practice of keeping them became obsolete when the Ministry established inexpensive Owl Posts and Fire Talking. Subsequently, magical journals have been unpopular for the last two centuries; if one hears anything of them, it's usually remarks similar to, "Oh my goodness, I remember my grandparents talk about these things." As all "retro" things get the chance to, though; communal journal-keeping has been given a comeback with the wizarding society's young and old. For the young, it seems to be a way to easily keep in touch with friends and family. For the elders, it's another way to observe and monitor the propriety of their children's social circles, politics and behaviours. Although it is possible for the journal to be altered in appearance with charms once it has been purchased, the unedited book is the exact same custom make and brand, ordered specially through the [PARKINSON'S ANTIQUE STORE HERE]. All journals of this custom make are automatically able to link directly to one another as a network, and because of their identical qualities, are warded heavily from the 'tapping into' of magical journals bought from another source. As each book is made specifically for the individual it is ordered for (they are obviously not sold to the public), one is able to "wand lock" their individual journal, ensuring that intruders opening their book would see nothing more than fifty pages of blank parchment. 2.) Blotches -- blood, dirt, ink -- can be seen on the page. 3.) Strikethroughs are unreadable unless otherwise stated. 4.) Photographs can be copied onto the page (just remember to lj-cut!). 5.) Journal entries can be warded to particular individuals (referred to by name -- allowed: 'Warded to the Lestranges', not allowed: 'Warded To Evan's Pals') or privated to the viewing of the writer. Similarly, comments can also be warded for private conversations. These wards, unless stated, are considered to be unbreakable. 6.) ICly, every update and comment would be labelled by the first and last names of its writer. There is no anonymity. 7.) To 'erase' an entry, it must be physically torn out. Magical ink cannot otherwise be removed. 8.) Generally, use common sense with the content of your character's public entries/comments/etc. As the journals are being monitored by the elders and this is not an era or society that embraces the freedom or speech or is in any way encouraging of sex, drugs and (wizarding) rock-and-roll, be aware that outlandish behaviour would not be seen as a norm and the likelihood of there being social repercussions to them are very high. |
ROLE-PLAY RULES 1.) Role-hogs will not be tolerated. Please apply with the intention of playing your characters; every month we'll run an activity to check to see who is active and who is not. All players are expected to make two journal entries and post a thread/log/narrative within that month's time unless a hiatus notice has been sent to the mods. 2.) Each player is allowed up to four characters. Only two of them are allowed to be under the age of 25 and one of the four must be a male (minimum), in order to keep the dynamics of the game on an even keel. 3.) All journal entries, letters and other forms of messages should be written in the first person; threads, logs and narratives should be written in the third. When you're posting logs onto the IC community, the following format should be used:Place long starters under a lj-cut. Logs can be written either in the present or the past (we welcome backstories/backlogging!). |
