As far as most are concerned, the Rookwoods are ordinary, respectable, and courteous. The family is notable enough to have gained the capricious favour of Cletus Warrington, which saw him happily handing over his teenage daughter to the family patriarch, Augustus, who’d lost his first wife many years before. Uniquely, their affluence has been maintained in investments made almost exclusively in Spain, the home of his Augustus’ mother. Having a full-grown son and heir from his first marriage, his life of retirement isn’t much of one at all, for like many hard-working men, he is stubborn and rebellious to an existence of easy lavishness and often travels to see to his numerous factories and Spanish head-quarters to double-check expenditure and the diligence of his employees, to the annoyance of his young wife. Despite having the unforgiving love of beautiful things that one expects of a Warrington, and though being frightfully young, Genevieve is said to be a fine wife; so fine, in fact, that she is rumoured to be on her way to granting a forty-something Augustus with his second child.

SOCIAL: Being married to Cletus Warrington's favourite child has its perks; the Rookwood businesses have been profited wildly by Cletus' irregular involvement. Although Augustus is the brother of the Avery matriarch, they do not socialise often, but the familial connection to one of the greats has only ever been a good thing; Cletus wouldn't have bothered with him, had he not realised he was Gregor's brother-in-law. The Warrington allies are, by association and to a slightly lesser degree, allies of the Rookwoods, whereas none of their detractors are even aware of them. Because the Rookwoods are quite likable, and underneath his smile, Augustus is ambitious and cutthroat; he gravitates toward the Wilkses, the Macnairs,  the Mulcibers and other families with cunning and aspirations of rising higher.

SPECIAL: Augustus is a killer. Out of frustration, out of habit, out of delight. His wife, Lenore, he murdered in Egypt, ridding his ship of her body and proof of her very existence once he was done. A similar gift he bestowed upon Antonin Dolohov's woman, a Russian teenager, and Gregor Avery's only son, a child of mere four-years-old at the time - Augustus similarly targeted his sister's youngest daughter when she reached the same age, but the fall he pushed her from simply affected the development of her joints.

The Rosiers, mostly elusive and private, took everything personally. Borne from the loins of a four-hundred-year-old potions cartel monopoly in Central and Western Europe, they understood business and that in every deal there could always be a win-win situation for those that knew risks and how to make them. They strike their enemies at the jugular, translating a squabble as an aspersion to the entire Rosier name. After the death of Evan Rosier during the First War, the Rosier name crumbled under the weight of political scrutiny and their distant relatives from Luxembourg persevered to maintain whatever influence they held in the English Wizarding society. This new breed of Rosiers preferred business to politics and with it came the determination to bring down an enemy to their knees, not with violence, but with scandals and controversies too deep to climb out of.

Zabini was never a powerhouse name but having a considerable amount of wealth and a significant dose of confidence helped them make up for it. Blaise's mother's many marriages exponentially increased their gold in the vault and made them remarkably infamous in society. By the time Blaise had finished Hogwarts, after the Voldemort fiasco, they turned their infamy into a status that resembled celebratory rather than simple popularity. They became involved in the media, their name included in every social event, and while other families had buffed up on business and political spheres, the Zabinis themselves thrived under the limelight through music, sports, and the arts.
